clay time = play time

we made ceramic bowls! after watching a short film outlining the art of making a sensuous and organic edge(please skip this step). we cut out a die or pattern to make our clay in to then we got slabs of clay and rolled them to 3/8 inch thickness and made them fit our patterns. then we put them over a form( a bowl in this case) and made them to our liking, after they have dyed we fired them, and now we are glazing

pastels

contrary to common belief pastels while being grate for art their main purpose is to make your hands absolutely filthy. The amount of pastel that accumulates on your hands really makes you think that you are using the crayon wrong. but on to art, we made pastel still life drawings

using crazy fast sketchy drawing skills, I made some pastel still life on a black paper for contrast.

pro tip: adding colorful sketchy backgrounds make it much better

paint from the arm

Gesture drawings (painting in this case) are fast drawlings that can have a lot of expression in them
Look at that lovely face!
these were fun fast paintings that we messed around on. by the end this painting had tribal markings and wings!
Told you

don't force it!

In art we studied forced prespective and went out around the school to force our prespective on the unsuspecting campus

forcing prespective on a fence!

AND ON A CAR!!!
so these not so good pictures were realy a hard feat to pull off between the camra man and the subject both getting in to position. it required quite the bit of coragraphy.

2 points about realist art

Vanishing points to be precise, 2 point perspective  to make a coner view of a building / town

the death of skittle art

after working and investing a large chunk of time in to the skittle art i decided it was not going to be finish able in the time given. so, I improvised. cutting out a stencil in the shape of a skittle logo and killing the beast. so the skittle logo made with skittles turned out okay, but the black and purple blend too much so I'm going to replace the black spray paint with white spray paint and it should be fine

just desserts

Well, we have been doing a art project. Now I am not sure how this project got so out of proportion however we are making large mosaic portraits of ourselves using skittles, now you may be thinking "thats a neat ideal" however in execution you end up with a tedious and messy project that makes you hate skittles. yep i hate skittles now, the candy is forever ruined.
also you end up eating a lot of skittles, some of witch may or may not have come in contact with glue.

The dark side of art

Shadow art!
played around with shadow puppets as a kid, do it again with art!
making shadows on the wall
using old slide projectors and a dark classroom we made shadow art by cutting out shapes! who doesn't like shapes ?
Look at these shapes
so we made African plane shadow thing art
its like the lion king or something

whats the value of learning this?

We are going over the basics of shading and value scales. making shaded portraits.

I think that getting pencil to not be reflective in photos is nearly impossible.but I really need to work on drawing portraits, im not too happy with my ability to draw the human head.

sooooo.. anyone like the pun in the title?

tape holds the future together

Masking Tape project

For art we split in to groups based on things that we thougt were important, and did murals using masking tape like the artist Buf Diss. I liked how the final mural came out, we did a path to the future with symbols along the way. in the group I was the one that planned the ideal and then we built upon it improving the design with suggestions and improvisations along the way. the mural is nice, the biggest accomplishment was making masking tape bend without folding on its self to make nice curvy lines; wich was also the biggest challenge.
